Magazin: „keep parkour real and share the true spirit“ – Interview mit Thibaut Granier

Thibaut, how did you start with Parkour?
„I have been practising parkour for about 11 years now. I started because a good friend told me about David Belle and his movie Banlieu 13, but at this time i haven’t seen it. Then, when i get home i had on look on internet about David Belle and i found Parkour and some very old videos from a french guys called Tim Pisteurs. I felt in love with Parkour.“

And why your still training parkour, why you never stopped?
„Well , Parkour became my job (but it’s still my passion which is quite amazing to live from your passion). Exploring the world and find news place to train is one of my top motivaiton at the moment. I still training Parkour because it’s a part of me now, i don’t really realize that im training parkour.“

Thibaut, what is your personal goals for your training?
„I have many goals, the top one is to be in a good shape, free to move everywhere. I think Parkour helped me to developpe myself, getting stronger.“

And what do you think the futur of parkour will be?
„There will be more people coming to learn parkour, so i think it will be very important to keep it real and share the true spirit of it. There will be more people teaching also, so it’s really important to have the same message and be careful about what you do.“

So now tell us a bit more about your community – how big is Parkour Paris?
„There is difference btw the Community in Paris and the association. In our association, we have, average, 300 guys, from differents ages.In the community, there more than 100 guys who trains in Paris. But we don’t train all together.“ Thibaut ist der Präsident von Parkour Paris – aber er betont: „But there is no leader, we all take our decision together. I’m the president because i’m living in Paris.“

And what are the goals of your Parkour Paris-Community?
„It’s to offer the possibility to anyone to learn Parkour. We also have a profesionnal team for differents events like show, performance, workshop… Parkour Paris is also a page on facebook for everyone who want to train and chill with us in Paris.“

As final question: How would you describe the relationship between Parkour Paris and ParkourONE?
„We know the guys from ParkourONE for more than 8 years now. There are doing a great job all around europe. We have a lot of respect for them.“

Thank you very much Thibaut for answering our questions – merci beaucoup!
